Valley Sand & Gravel was founded in the early '70s in the Helena Valley to serve the needs of a growing city. Initially focusing on septic systems, water lines, and foundation work, Valley quickly grew into a full-scale excavating, sand & gravel operation based on the high-quality soil that was self-screened for all jobs.

As Valley Grew, it diversified into entry-level housing development, marketing, and sales and continues to maintain a tradition of excellence towards affordable quality housing in the Helena area.

Founder Kim Smith expanded the business dramatically in 2001 with the purchase of the current operations center at 7510 Applegate Dr. This larger facility led to the acquisition of newer and more reliable equipment, a more expansive client base, and the ability to undertake jobs of a much larger size.

As Valley continues to diversity and expand, one thing has remained: an honest focus on the peope behind the work and ensuring the quality that you and your clients deserve.

Valley exists as two seperate Limited Liability Corporations, each filed for and received in 2005. These include Valley Sand & Gravel, LLC., and Valley Construction of Helena, LLC.

Valley was founded and continues to be run by Kim Smith. A Montana-native, Mr. Smith lives in Helena and has been providing his services to Helena for over three decades. His philosophy grew from the belief that being the best didn't mean you had to be the biggest. It is with this spirit that he steers the future of Valley.
